New Music Video: Ed Sheeran – “Small Bump”

Posted by Miro On May - 10 - 2012

We’re finally getting the music video for Ed Sheeran‘s (website/twitter/facebook) latest single, “Small Bump”. It’s one of the standout tracks on Ed’s album, + (Plus), and the 5th single from the album. It’s probably my favorite song lyrically - so honest and tragically beautiful. The music video reflects the simplicity of the music, while maintaing the emotions [...]

TheMusicPhiles Favorites: Of Monsters and Men – My Head Is An Animal

Posted by Miro On May - 8 - 2012

Every once in a long while, a new band will come to my attention that just blows me away. Sure, there are many bands that I love, but only a handful I can’t imagine what life was like before I heard them. Of Monsters and Men (website/twitter/facebook) are one such band. The Icelandic group recently [...]

Matt Cardle’s US Gig Debut at Hotel Cafe

Posted by Miro On May - 6 - 2012

“You’re far too kind,” exclaimed Matt Cardle (website/twitter/facebook) between songs throughout the night as he played his first gig in the US last night at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood. It was an early show on a Saturday night in Los Angeles, and a holiday at that, but that didn’t stop eager fans from seeing the X-Factor winner. Before the show [...]

New Singles: Snow Patrol – “In The End” and “New York” live at RAK Studios

Posted by Miro On January - 30 - 2012

There are so many great songs on the new album from Snow Patrol (website), Fallen Empires. The band has already released four singles from the album, starting with the great “Called Out Into The Dark”, which is finally getting some airplay in the US. “This Isn’t Everything You Are” was the second track. Right now, [...]

Reeve Carney (featuring Bono and The Edge) – “Rise Above 1″

Posted by Miro On January - 29 - 2012

I’m not sure what the cross section of U2 and Broadway fans is, but “Rise Above 1″ from the Spiderman Turn Off The Dark soundtrack is quite good. Actually, it’s one of my favorite songs at the moment. It’s undeniably got U2 all over it. It’s a great U2 power ballad – with great story [...]

Presenter James Corden states it beautifully,

“There’s nothing quite like the feeling when you’re listening to a song written by someone you don’t know, who you’ve never met, who somehow manages to describes exactly how you felt at a particular moment in your life. This next artist is able to do that time after time. It’s for that reason that she is currently number one in an astonishing 17 countries. If you’ve ever had a broken heart, you’re about to remember it now. Here performing “Someone Like You”, it’s the beautiful Adele.”

“Wow, wasn’t that amazing? You can have all the dancers, the pyrotechnics, laser shows you want, but if you sound like that, all you need is a piano. Incredible”. – James Corden

With each live performance, I’m astounded as to how amazing Adele is. I fell in love with “Someone Like You” after hearing it on Later Live with Jools Holland a few months ago. And this performance was far more intense and emotional. I’m amazed and moved, especially seeing how moved Adele is at the end of it. The BRIT Awards are special to Adele, and it’s fantastic seeing the audience and Adele respond to the moment, truly magical.

Words are not adequate as to how I feel when I listen to her songs, lyrics, and voice, especially her live performances. She’s fantastic. And she’s so down to earth, unpolished, and willing to be vulnerable. I had the fortune of seeing her in a tiny venue before the release of her debut album, 19, and having a little chat with her, and she’s incredibly generous, humble, and has a great sense of humor. She’s an amazing human being, and I absolutely adore her (read: healthy obsession).

I can’t wait for her album 21 to come out in the US and for her tour in May and June. (21 will be winning many awards next award season… )

Incredible. Stunning. Chilling.
